Beagle Dog Breeder - QLD

Kislev is a small kennel striving for excellence and quality.

The future of Kislev & Stmalo Beagles looks promising with some lovely litters planned in the forthcoming years; a journey I am looking forward to with great pleasure as the future of this wonderful little dog, the Beagle, is what matters and should matter to all responsible breeders and pet owners. All Kislev Beagles are Health tested.

Kislev is excited to add Standard Smooth Dachshunds to our family. Back X-rays are a must with our Dachshunds.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.We have several tests we can test for in Beagles one a new one Lafora which is a form of epilepsy swabs have to be sent to the Czech Republic. All my breeding stock is DNA for parentage and are clear of MLS, NCCD, IGS.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.I believe in socialising my puppies I start with music and noise leading up to louder sounds as they grow. Socialising with the older dogs. I advise my puppy buyers to go to puppy pre school and then go onto basic obedience classes. I do suggest if they can to go further in obedience also agility and jumping and lure coursing.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.A beagle does not suit everyone this is found out often by the questioner and also verbal interview and often with a visit. I have not hesitation to tell a buyer that a beagle is not suitable and I regret that I can not sell them one. I can have homes checked to see if fencing etc is suitable if I haven’t received a proper description or photo of the fence.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I have a puppy questioner not everyone is suitable for a beagle. I do both verbal and personal interview Desexing is advised If for some reason their beloved beagle can no longer live with the family I advise that I be the first port of call to rehome their beagle.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.I am available anytime day and night to help in any way if a problem arises. I do make sure before the puppy leaves my property that the new owners understand what is expected of them. Feeding grooming etc is gone over throughly. Training is of the upmost importance and they are taught the basics before they leave.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Always I the breeder should be the first port of call if for some reason the owners can not keep their beagle
