Kasingal Shetland Sheepdogs

Shetland Sheepdog Dog Breeder - Bunbury, WA

At Kasingal Shetland Sheepdogs our focus is on:

- Solid temperament, outgoing natures and drive - puppies are raised using Puppy Culture & Avidog regimes.
- Sound health and construction.

Puppies Imprinting period opens at 3 weeks and closes at approx. 12 weeks, therefore, we will work with a puppy to provide the imprinting which is so important for performance during this critical period. One of the most important characteristics of imprinting is that the knowledge is retained for life.

Solid Foundation: By the time one of our puppies comes to your home they will have started basic toilet training, done baby recalls, walking on lead, socialisation with people and other animals, be used to being handled, introduced to novel items, sights and sounds, taught how to play and tug, basic retrieve, basic bite inhibition, used to different surfaces and textures, puppy sized tunnels/wobble boards/planks, things to climb in/on/over, things moving under foot, had car rides, ride on a blanket or in a box, play on balance discs and much, much more.

We use the Puppy Culture & Avidog protocols which produce amazingly resilient, confident, enrichment seeking puppies who go on to become well rounded, outgoing, operant dogs.

Our current team compete in Obedience, Rally, Tricks, Scent Work, Agility and the occasional show.

Our dogs are DNA tested for all genetic diseases, ophthalmologist tested and hip/elbow scored.

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.All my Shelties are DNA test for all possible diseases, eye tested and hip/elbow x-ray and scoring.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.We use the Puppy Culture & Avidog protocols which produce amazingly resilient, confident, enrichment seeking puppies who go on to become well rounded, outgoing, operant dogs.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.This is top priority! Owners need to meet and greet at least a couple of times prior to picking up a puppy. We have a 'puppy party' day at around 7 weeks old where the prospective owner and the pups get to know each other. Grooming demonstrations are given on an older dog as well as discussions on health. Owners get to spend a little time one on one with their puppy and are shown some of the things that the puppies have learnt and how to continue with that training.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Health guarantee upon purchase, de-sexing agreement, buyer questionnaire, in person interview. Prospective buyers have to complete a number of safe guards to ensure they are the right fit for our puppies.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.All owners have life time support through my Facebook page and assistance with training. I am also only a phone call away for anything urgent.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Prospective owners are required to sign a contact which states that if there are any issues with a puppy or dog I have bred then it is returned to me for assessing and re-homing.
