Health testing & screening
Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.There are no prescribed health checks for whippets, but we have them heart tested when the service is available. We breed the best we have to the best dog available, with due consideration to health as well as conformation. Healthy puppies are important as most become companion animals.
Preparation & socialisation
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.They are born and raised inside a home and experience all of life's noises and activities.
Placement & matching
Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.We spend some time with prospective owners to understand their circumstances and the home they offer. We provide extensive notes and information to prospective owners, whether it be a puppy or an older whippet. All puppies deserve a good home.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We ask companion owners to have their whippet sterilised at the appropriate age - we strongly recommend that this does not happen before 12 months of age. Any whippets sold as companions are not for breeding.
Ongoing support
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.We provide all our contact details in our information sheet and are available to assist new and longer term owners. We will take back a whippet in need, no questions asked.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Yes, we are always happy to assist - life does not always run to plan, and things happen.
