Brittany Dog Breeder - Western Australia

Welcome to Bomschell Brittanys, we are a small family-based breeder based in Perth, Western Australia.
We are passionate about breeding exceptional family dogs that are versatile enough to excel in any area of the canine world, whether its agility, obedience, scent work, show or hunting. We pride ourselves on breeding not only fantastic sport and family dogs but also numerous therapy and assistance dogs that improve their owners' lives every day.
Our dogs are part of our family and we prioritize their well-being while continuing to develop our strict breeding principles to ensure that our puppies are balanced, well-rounded and have amazing temperaments.
Our breeding practices are selective and we only breed on rare occasions. To ensure the very best outcomes for our puppies we carefully select the most most loving, responsible, and suitable owners to join the extended family of Bomschell owners.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Hip & Elbow Xrays and scores for the ANKC CHEDS scheme, Cardiac testing, Eye Testing

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.We follow the Puppy Culture program, a comprehensive program that aims to optimize puppies physical and mental development. It is based on the latest scientific research and focuses on providing puppies with a wide range of early learning experiences and socialization opportunities. Puppy culture aims to provide puppies with a foundation of experiences and skills that will help them grow into confident, well-adjusted adult dogs. it includes providing puppies with exposure to a variety of different people, places and experiences, as well as teaching them basic manners and obedience skills.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.We have an extensive questionnaire, we meet and interview prospective buyers a few times prior to having puppies and while puppies are young. We often visit their home and if they are renting we ask for a letter of consent from the landlord. We only sell locally unless it is to someone we know very well.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We have an extensive prospective buyer questionaire and screening process, we do not sell our puppies interstate as we like to stay in close contact. My name is to stay as secondary contact on the microchip and if ever there is a rehoming issue the dog must come back to us. We give full lifetime support and follow ups. All puppies are sold on the limited register (not to be bred from) unless otherwise agreed and we require them to be desexed at 12 months of age.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.I always phone and visit, we have catch ups for all our owners regularly such as our Christmas in July we just hosted and I have a private facebook group for Bomschell only owners to stay in touch. Our owners generally become our friends so it is a natural evolution of the relationship.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.We will always take a dog back if the need arose, however we havent had this happen. It is in our agreement that the dog is returned to us if it requires rehoming.
