Bedlington Terrier Pet Shows & Events - Yarra Valley, VIC

I have always loved the unique and beautiful Bedlington Terriers and now dedicate myself to breeding Bedies that meet the Australian Standard for the breed. They make delightful and loving pets, are non shedding and of medium size although lightly built at around 10kg.
They have the softest coat imaginable, and come in a range of colours - blue (silvery blue in adults), liver (latte coloured in adults) and sandy (cappuccino froth coloured in adults).
My top winning dogs are health tested to ensure we are using the best available dogs in the breeding program.
Appropriate DNA profile obtained for all testable diseases and disorders. All health testing results are available for scrutiny.

From time to time, puppies become available to great homes. Please don't hesitate to call for information or advice.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Bedlingtons are DNA profiled for Copper Toxicosis as required by ANKC. As an ethical breeder, I do not use any dogs that carry two copies of the COMMD1 gene in my breeding program, or breed carriers of this gene together.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.I use the Puppy Culture protocol to raise puppies, and also take them to my work on a daily basis after 5 weeks of age to familiarise them with car travel and socialisation with other dogs and people. The puppies are raised in my home, have large play areas that contain toys and enrichment activities, and also have supervised access to my large garden to play and explore.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Personal interview On line research of potential buyers References
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Extensive personal interview process Sales agreement Health guarantee

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.It goes without saying! I want my dogs and puppies to live long and happy lives, so make myself available to offer advice based on my extensive experience with my breed and dogs in general.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.In the event that some unforeseen event occurs, I would do my very best to find a suitable home for any dog that was bred by me. This could involve advertising on my breeder page for a new home, or potentially taking the dog into my home while I sought and alternative and suitable owner.
