Muffin and Boofus - Beauty and the Beast
**Enquire at adoptions@catpeople.org.au *** Please include your phone number so we can respond **
Muffin and Boofus... Where do we start. The odd couple. She is brains, and sass. He is beautifully dumb. The epitome of a himbo. Think Kronk and Yzma. Or, for the older generation, Darby and Joan. He is timid and easily scared, but wants to love you. She will learn to trust and even like you, but she is not going to be overly friendly.
Muffin and Boofus are likely a mother-son duo. And they are incredibly closely bonded. When they arrived in care Muffin was pregnant. She had a difficult pregnancy, but did have 5 healthy babies. Boof took on the role of Cat Daddy from day 1. Muffin nursed them, but Boof raised them. Those babies have long gone to their homes. Boof and Muffin have learned what it's like to be retired in a home. Warm, well fed and with each other.
Boof is a big cuddly boy. Emphasis on BIG. Boof is a BIG cat. He will come up to you for cuddles, sit on your lap, call to you if he wants your attention and even occasionally drool. He is learning to like pick up cuddles, but is best left with his feet on the ground. Having had an uncertain start to life, he feels safer with 4 feet on the ground. Boof can be quite frightened by loud and sudden noises, even going so far as to hiss at people if they yell around him. He definitely needs a quiet life.
Muffin will not be your friend. She will learn to trust and like you, but she will not be friendly. She may be amenable to pats, but will be happier and more relaxed with less contact. However, she does seek comfort from you when she's scared. Muffin will require a sedative before any kind of routine care, or going to the vet. She will take medication crushed in food.
What does Muffin bring to this duo? She is a unique cat who will still bring you so much joy. She can have an attitude, but that makes it so much more rewarding in those small moments when she is happy and comfortable with you. She is not aggressive if you are respectful of her.
Muffin and Boof need to go to a HIGHLY experienced owner.
They must be integrated into the household in a crate, for a minimum of one month.
Muffin needs an owner who knows how to gain a scared cat's trust. And will put in that effort.
Muffin and Boof are ok with quiet, well socialised cats. Muffin is quite strong willed.
They are not good with children. Loud noises are scary for Boof. And Muffin may scratch them. If they are in a household where children visit, they will hide. Muffin and Boof currently cohabitate with 2 large but respectful dogs. They will be happy if they can ignore the dogs and there are hiding places to can get away
If you're looking for character in spades and a lot of entertainment with buckets of love to boot, Look no further Muffin and Boof are waiting for yo!.
