Vakker Maine Coons - Maine Coon breeder, Brisbane

Maine Coon Cat Breeder - Queensland

Home based breeder of Maine Coons, our kittens are raised in a family home with other cats, dogs and young adults. Our cats are not housed in out of the way or in outside enclosures. Kittens are born and live in our bedroom for approx 3 weeks and are then raised within our living areas, with all the noise and interaction you would expect in a large family. This allows us to nurture healthy, secure, outgoing, and affectionate kittens with very impressive temperaments.

Breeding all colours except white, we are currently a closed cattery, this is to protect our adults and kittens from highly contagious and deadly viruses. Buyers will be provided with lots of photographs, videos and explanation of a kitten's temperament so they can easily make a decision on a kitten. Recommended health testing is done on all adults.

Kittens are supplied with pedigree papers, are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, litter trained, flea treated and wormed and come with a kitten pack.

Initial contact preferred via email.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.Recommended DNA testing schedule for genetic diseases

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.All cats and kittens are raised in the home as a family member, not in outside enclosures. Kittens are socialised with young children, dogs and other cats.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We have a questionnaire for interested buyers so we know more about the homes they may be going to and what they as buyers would like in a kitten. We do not offer kittens until they are approximately 5 weeks old when temperaments are known. Prior to a buyer choosing a kitten, if I feel a kitten's temperament in a particular litter will not suit them (eg. too timid, but this is uncommon) I will inform the potential buyer of the kitten's temperament and my recommendation to either consider a different one from the litter or a future litter.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.In depth information given about us as breeders. Buyer questionnaire asking about potential homes and what the buyer prefers in a kitten. Health guarantee (no FIP, testable genetic diseases). Kitten return policies of no questions asked within 14 days if does not work out within new home.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.Full support to buyers with any concerns they have and if they need to rehome there kitten in the future. We also offer support for people that buy from a different breeder.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.We offer a full refund for 14 days no questions asked if it doesn't work out. After this we are happy to take back the kitten if space will allow, other wise we will find them a new home asap. If we are able to get any payment for their cat this will be given to the original owner.
