Griffon Bruxellois Dog Breeder - SA

A more special breed of dog you wouldnt find than the Griffon Bruxellois, they are fabulous family pets, cat like, friendly and so loving. They co exist happily with our cats and help us turn out dog socialised Burmilla and Mandalay kittens.

We only have the occasional litter but when we do I am besotted with these little charmers. Griffons are lively happy and loving little dogs. They come in Rough and Smooth coat , however as the Rough requires hand stripping I prefer the Smooth coat.

At the moment I only breed in Red, although I am very keen to acquire a Black. There is always a waiting list for our puppies, we only breed from health tested dogs as much as possible.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
Griffons dont have any testing requirements and most breeders dont do much testing. I do hips for my own interests sake, hearts are checked by a visiting Cardiologist, I also like eye test for PRA and PPM. All dogs are thoroughly vet checked, including patellas, and breathing ability.
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
Puppies are reared in our family room with our other dogs and our kittens.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
Written Questionaire, personal facetime video if unable to visit personally and a sales contract.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
I interview extensively, most of my puppy enquiries come through personal reference.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
I am always available to answer questions
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
I prefer to assist while the dog is living with the owner, but have also taken dogs back. I am careful about the age of my purchasers to ensure that they outlive their dog.
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Yes
Trupanion Pet Insurance is generated to cover from the moment a puppy leaves me, and there is no Waiting Period.
