We are a small kennel located in Central West NSW. We have been breeding Australian Kelpies since 1979. Our dogs excel as companion dogs, obedience and sporting dogs as well as in the show ring. Our puppies are raised in a family home environment with many enrichment activities.

We conduct health testing on all of our breeding stock to ensure the health and well-being of our dogs and to also ensure that the Australian Kelpie remains a healthy and active breed for years to come.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?

Yes

All breeding stock are hip and elbow xrayed and DNA screened for hereditary diseases. Based on these results we make informed decisions on which animals are able to be included in our breeding programs. We have also started to do regular heart and eye testing on all breeding stock. This will become part of our regular pre breeding testing requirements.

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?

Yes

Our puppies are raised in our family home with children and other pets. They are exposed to Early Neurological Stimulation training from day 3. Due to us not living in town we use pre recorded city and town noises to ensure that our pups are exposed to as much environmental noise as possible prior to leaving us.

Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?

Yes

We have a health guarantee on all puppies which is included in our purchase contract. We also have a de-sexing agreement. We hold verbal interviews with our puppy buyers.

Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?

Yes

We are very interested in what environment the puppy will be living in. Number of family members, ages, work schedules, weekend pursuits. What activities you plan to do with your puppy? Are you a first time dog owner? Why a Kelpie for your family?

All Tegoura kelpies have the option to be returned to us in the first instance and we will rehome or if the buyer rehomes notification made to the breeder of where the puppy is going.
