Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?

Yes

I have completed Orivet Full Breed Profiling, which has been reviewed by my vet. I have used the same vet for over 20 years and My vet is part of my breeding and health team for my dogs and puppies. My dogs and puppies (and cats) get their required health screens, DNA testing, vaccinations, worming when they are required.

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?

Yes

Puppies currently live with mum and dad, cats and have other family members visiting including children, they interact as part of the family. Dogs are walked as part of their activities around the neighbourhood.

Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?

Yes

I have a puppy enquiry form which asks for information on their family set up and the type of environment puppy will be going to and if they have any experience with the breed. I also require a video link up through messenger to meet so the new owner can see us and the dogs and puppies and we can see them also. I also offer (local) new puppy owners the opportunity to visit their selected puppy at agreed times until they can collect.

Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?

Yes

A puppy enquiry form with some details about the type of home life puppy will be going into. A video call to meet and also so they can initially view mum and dad. New owners being invited into my home to view the puppies (where local) and also ongoing visits if they wish to.

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes

I have owned and bred Staffies since 2009, I am providing a booklet with some information to each puppy owner on the breed, and also what to expect with a new puppy as well as a well rounded puppy pack. I have a facebook page for my Kennel and I offer all new owners ongoing support for their puppy.

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?

I am considering this, so I havent commited to it as yet but I am looking at the possibility.

Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?

Yes

I had a puppy returned in 2009 through no fault of his own, I assessed the puppy to ensure he could be rehomed but instead fell in love with him and kept him along with mum and dad, but I will assist with rehoming if required.
