Siamese, Oriental, Foreign White Cat Breeder - VIC

WE DO HAVE A WAITING LIST.
PEOPLE ON THE WAITING LIST WILL ALWAYS GET FIRST OPTION TO ADOPT OUR AVAILABLE KITTENS.

Rislani is a small cattery based in Gippsland Victoria and has been operating since August 2006. Our love for the Siamese cat started thanks to a Seal Point Siamese by the name of Fabio.

We are proudly registered with The Australian National Cats Inc. (ANCATs) (Member number: 10841) and attend as many shows as we possibly can.

Please be aware: If we have a cat due to give birth, or have family commitments, we will not be attending shows run on these dates. If you are wishing to meet up with us at a show, please contact us via the Contact Us portion of this page, or via private message on our Facebook page to confirm whether or not we will be attending the show you will be at.

Our Siamese, Oriental & Foreign White breeding program
Originally, when we became registered breeders, we simply aimed to breed healthy well-adjusted kittens that would become the type of pet we experienced ourselves with Fabio.

However, as time drew on we made the decision to move into specialising in older style Siamese. As traditional, or applehead Siamese are quite uncommon, and we are using modern lines, our progression to older style siamese is still very much a work in progress. However, as time goes by we are getting more and more litters with more older styled babies in them.

At this time, we are breeding cats that are about halfway in-between the current modern and old style siamese/oriental.

Please note: We breed only solid colours in both Siamese & Orientals. We do not have any tabby (linx) or bi-colour litters.

Colours currently bred by us include:

Siamese:
- Seal Point
- Chocolate Point
- Blue Point
- Lilac Point
- Cinnamon Point
- Fawn Point

Orientals:
- Black (Ebony)
- Chocolate (Havana)
- Blue
- Lilac
- Cinnamon
- Fawn
- White

Foreign White
- White

All of our breeding cats are DNA tested for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) shortly after their arrival at Rislani.

At present we are using UC Davis Veterinary Medicine in the USA or Orivet to perform these DNA tests.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.DNA Test for PRA on all our breeding cats. To ensure the safety and health of our queens, we endeavour to only have 1 litter from each queen per year despite being allowed to mate every 6 months.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.Kittens are raised in our bedroom and once old enough allowed access to my entire house. They are handled regularly from the day they are born and have someone here with them 24x7.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Even after our kittens leave us, we still consider them to be our babies, therefore have details discussions with the potential adopters to ensure the kitten has the right personality to fit in quickly and easily into their home, and LOVE getting updates from their adoptive families after they leave.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.Full conditions of sale will be provided to potential homes only. However, one of our main criteria is that we will ONLY sell kittens to homes where they will be kept indoors 24x7 or have access to a suitable cat proof outdoor enclosure.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.Lifetime support for all our kittens is provided, with many buyers adding us as friends on facebook so they can keep in touch and update us as their kitten grows.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.If for whatever reason a kitten/cat we bred requires rehoming we would do everything in our power to assist them find a new home.
