Ozturk Turkish Van Cats & Kittens

Turkish Van Cat Breeder - Adelaide, SA

I'm a small micro breeder and Turkish Van enthusiast.
I adopted my first Turkish Van in the 90's and have been besotted ever since.

The health, happiness and welfare of my cats and kittens is my upmost priority.
They are playful, loving and socialised.
My cats have the full run of my home plus have access to a large, fully netted outdoor enclosure.
However, they are usually found lounging or asleep on my bed.

I enjoy showing and promoting my loved but very rare cats.
It's important that my cats conform to and achieve their breed standards.
If you see us here in Adelaide, please come up and say hi.
I'm always happy to talk about Turkish Vans and to introduce you to my cats.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.Pedigree Turkish Vans are not predisposed to inherited medical issues, dental issues or obesity. However, as with all felines, diet and environment will heavily factor into this. We've been with our family veterinarian for over twenty years. Annual visits with health checks, dental checks and vaccinations. And I also utilise the services of a breeders' veterinary surgery.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.My girls have their litters in my bedroom, I like to easily be able to check on them. They remain in my bedroom, safe in a covered crate with a puppy fence to keep them contained. My girls can take breaks and freely wander around inside when they need . Their kittens are a lively, rambunctious bunch, into everything, love exploring and playing. When older, they easily mix with all the cats, often pushing their boundaries. They love their cuddles and do sleep on my bed. They are well handled and used to being picked up and carried. They're all purry little Vans

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.All kittens and cats must be indoor cats or with access to a netted area. Free roaming is dangerous so not allowed. Potential buyers are interviewed by phone and if possible, personally. My priority will always be the best home.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.My conditions are my kittens & cats will be keep indoors. They may also have access to an enclosed porch or cat run. This is to keep them safe from cars, dogs, strangers, wildlife, theft and danger. My kittens & cats will be integrated gradually and safely into your home They will have their annual vet checks and vaccinations. And if ever needed, emergency vet treatment will be sought without delay. I predominately feed my kittens and cats with high grade, human consumption meat with the added nutritional vitamins & minerals. This provides them with a great foundation. They also are introduced to and eat a range of tinned, pouch and packed foods. I provide information via emails, messaging and phone calls, I am always here if there are any questions or issues.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.Most definitely! I want to ensure a smooth transition with positive outcomes.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.I am always here for any questions or issues. If for any reason you are unable to keep your kitten or cat, you agree to contact me immediately. I have the right to have them returned to me or I assist in any rehoming process. I would be devastated to learn any of my kittens or cats were on-sold or left at a shelter.
