Breeder Questionnaire
Question. Are you a current member of any breed clubs and/or associations?
Yes
NSWCFA, 'Australian Abyssinian and Somali Cat Club of Australia', 'Abyssinian and Somali Cat Club of Australia'.
Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Yes
My queens and my boy have all been genetically tested and all have separate runs so if the girls come into season they can be separated until their season is finished. All are microchipped and registered with my local council and all have regular vet checks for vaccinations and teeth checks and any illnesses or accidents.
Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Yes
All litters are spaced apart so all kittens receive maximum attention and care, also all kittens born and raised inside in a family environment. No kitten is re-homed under 3 months old.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Yes
All of the above, with communication with the new owners in the following months and photos and updates of their kittens and a refund policy in place if the new owner or kitten arn't happy or settled. All kittens inside only and I personally deliver 90% of my kittens in NSW and VIC to ensure that their new homes are appropriate. All kittens are health checked, desexed, 2 vaccinations, microchipped in the new owners name and go with a kitten pack, all paperwork on feeding, care and their new Abyssinian kittens personalities. All my cats and kittens are part of our family and as such receive all the attention and care that this involves.
Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Yes
I try to match kittens personality with their new home environment if possible. eg, a quieter kitten with a older or single person and the more outgoing confident kittens with families with younger children. Continuous communication the new owners before and after the kitten has left. I try to deliver the new kittens myself to their new homes so I can make sure they will be safe and loved.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Yes
absolutely total ongoing support 24/7 for the life of the cat.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Yes
I have just rescued a blue Aby boy that I had bred from an older lady that had purchased 2 Abyssinian brothers from me 4 years ago. She wasn't coping as they had started to fight so I took the blue boy and found a wonderful home for him with a family from around Melbourne Victoria. (Details found on my facebook page).
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
