LionsLea Rhodesian Ridgebacks are a small kennel based just outside the Australian Capital Territory, not only passionate about our breed but with a special love for the Livernose.

We breed selectively and all dogs in our breeding program are hip/elbow scored, heart screened and DNA tested for Degenerative Myelopathy and Junior Myoclonic Epilepsy.

We keenly enjoy campaigning our Ridgebacks in the showring and are incredibly proud of their achievements but more importantly we are blessed with loyal and devoted family companions.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?

Hip and elbow xray, DNA breed profile with Orivet, Heart screened by a qualified cardiologist (dogs owned by Lionslea at a minimum, stud dog if at all possible)

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?

Yes

Our puppies are bred in family home and raised with small children

Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?

Yes

We prefer to meet all prospective puppy buyers. All puppies are sold with a purchase/de-sexing agreement. I guarantee the puppy up to two years against any hereditary disease however I encourage all puppy buyers to purchase pet insurance.

Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?

Yes

Phone interview, followed by meet and greet which we hold when pups are approximately 6 weeks old. I rarely sell sight unseen unless they have been recommended by a trusted source. Visits to Lionslea are always welcomed by appointment.

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes

We offer breeders support for the lifetime of the dog and will always take one of our own back.

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?

I guarantee the puppy up to two years against any hereditary disease however I encourage all puppy buyers to purchase pet insurance.

Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?

Yes

Yes, we will always help rehome where necessary.
