Klimkie Kennels is one of the oldest ANKC Rottweiler breeders in South Australia. Over the past 43 years we have owned, bred and competed with our Rottweilers. We compete in Conformation, Obedience and Rally with our dogs. Soundness, temperament, companionship and willingness to work are our main breeding focus. All of our dogs are brought up with young children.

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?

We do every test possible on our dogs. Sound and healthy dogs are very important to us.

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?

Yes

We have our children and grandchildren around the pups from birth and start letting outsiders (using appropriate precautions) play with our pups from 4 weeks of age until they leave.

Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?

We have a health guarantee and do verbal and personal interviews.

Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?

We ask about the potential puppy buyers past experience with dogs, ensure they are financial enough to give proper care of a puppy, ensure that they have a proper outdoor space with good fencing and ask about their plans for training the puppy.

Yes. We always help if the dog is in need of rehoming. We also work with the family first if they have any issues that can be solved without rehoming (eg. Free private obedience lessons with us). If the dog needs to be rehomed we prefer the dog stay with the family if possible to reduce the stress on the dog, however, we do bring the dog back to our home in the case the dog needs urgent rehoming.
