Schnauzer - Miniature Dog Breeder - Forbes, NSW

We are a very small home kennel, our dogs are a part of our family, they live in our home, they have access to a large shady yard, often they come with us in the vehicle when we're driving around the farm, they also come travelling with us in the caravan when we go road-tripping.

We are 100% committed to breeding happy, healthy, sound dogs with beautiful temperament, while striving to stay true to the breed standard. We don't have a lot of litters, but they are always thought-out & planned. We are committed to health testing, we go to an orthamologist annually to do eye tests, & our breeding stock are health screened using Orivet.

We are committed to the improvement of our breed, while balancing the lifestyle of our dogs so that they have the best quality of life that we can give them.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
I health test, I use an orthamologist annually to do an Asus test for PRA. I also use Orivet Full Breed Profile to genetically our breeding stock. I also belive in feeding predominately raw food, I find that I have more robust healthier animals.
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
They are handled everyday by me, if I get visitors, they're encouraged to handle my puppies after appropriently disenfecting. My older dogs have contact with my puppies reguarly. I also have them in the kitchen, where they can hear everyday household noise, I also have an app with additional noises such as fireworks thunder etc to condition them.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
All clients are to apply by email first, giving me a bio on their lifestyle, answering a questionnaire-then if I'm happy the next step phone interview. At 6 weeks after vaccination, they are allowed to visit puppies. I have a contract of sale, with a health guarantee & a desexing contract as well.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
Yes, it's a very high priority for me. If they can't do the bio, the questionnaire or the interview, they don't get a puppy. I prefer repeat clients or referrals from trusted clients or from other breeders I trust.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
I'm always available to answer any concerns, such as settling a pup into a new home, any issues, any behaviors the owner is concerned about, I help with food, grooming, potty training, manners, any issues eg skin, itching, it doesn't matter the problem, I'm there to support & advise to the best of my ability.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
Yes, If for whatever reason the owner is unable to keep the dog, he/she comes home to me, then I will look after them & look for an appropriate home to suite the dog.
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
No
