Cornish Rex Breeder - Cats - WA : Perfect Pets Profile
I am a boutique Cornish Rex breeder and veterinarian. I also enjoy showing my cats and am based in the Peel region of Western Australia.
Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
HCM in Cornish - more common in UK lines. Clients will receive known genetic problems for Cornish Rex.
Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Kittens are raised in a household and when appropriate, with other pets - cats, dogs, (potentially donkeys). Elderly and exposure to some children. Will be used to household noises - TV, vacuum etc. I will interview my potential families.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
I would like my cats to be contained - indoor or in an enclosure only. Information will be provided as to the care and ongoing care of the kitten. Owners can call me for advice (I am a veterinarian). I will guarantee a home if they cannot keep the kitten rather than it ending up anywhere, it can always be returned to me. Cats will be sterilised before going to new owners. My cats are guaranteed to be healthy and if found to be unwell or unsound due to no fault of the new owner, within a reasonable time I will treat the kitten.
Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Absolutely, verbal initially and personal. I would like to include other members of the family as well if possible.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
I am a vet so will be available to new owners for advice and information.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Yes, my kittens are always welcome to come back to me , I would prefer that unless an approved home is found.
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Kittens are covered by insurance which can be continued by the new owner
