I am a small breeder where all our breeders live in the house with us and sleep in our bed (when not raising babies of their own). When we go on holidays, our 4 legged come with us as they are part of the family. We have DNA tested all our breeders and annually they are cardiologist and ophthalmologist tested as well.

Health testing & screening
Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.We DNA test all breeders and we have annual cardiologist and ophthalmologist tests completed by canine specialists.
Preparation & socialisation
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Raised in the family room with us where they get used to all household noise and activities and once they’re old enough they can enjoy time to race around outside and enjoy the sunshine. We start their toilet training and also get them started on using a doggy door.
Placement & matching
Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.We do an initial video with each new prospective family where we can ensure their suitability.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Yes we have a sale and health guarantee. In South Australia it is now law that all dogs must be desexed as per DACO’s rules. All puppies are sold as pets only.
Ongoing support
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.Every puppy that leaves us is still part of the Clarehaven family.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Most absolutely. I always ask (for whatever reason) that babies return to us so we can ensure the perfect forever home for them.
