Question. Are you a current member of any breed clubs and/or associations?
Yes
As above - Full Member of Cats WA with Nationally registered Prefix " CHICAS " I abide by their Code of Ethics as published on their web site
Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Yes
I breed Siamese and Oriental Cats and there is no defined genetic testing required. I allow my girls to have one litter a year, if that, and would intend to retire my queens at age 7 or thereabouts. I would not allow my queens to mate prior to the age of 14 months. My boys are kept in big pens quite separately from the girls of course. I have decent facilities for my four boys "stud' cats. My kittens are reared in the home, and I aim to have only one litter of kittens running around at a time.
Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Yes
Kittens are born and raised in my home environment.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Yes
My kittens are sterilised before they leave home at approx 4 months of age. I undertake to refund any purchase price in full if kitten is returned for any reason whatso ever. I ask buyers to keep in close contact with me as the kitten is growing up and I offer to assist, even years down the track, if a rehoming is required for a Chicas Cat - of any cage.
Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Yes
I insist that purchase will come to my home to meet me and the kittens - and only if I am satisfied that they are responsible people who can afford to look after a cat properly will be proceed. I ask for regular updates on the kitten, If I do hear from a new owner I will make contact. I have in the past physically taken two kittens back home with me and refunded the money .....However, humans being what they are, there are no forever guarantees.
