Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Parent Hip & Elbow scores are submitted to CAWA before a litter is registered. Full DNA testing is conducted and only clear to clear/carrier matings are considered.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Puppies are socialised with older dogs and people of varied ages in a home environment.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.After nurturing the mother through pregnancy and providing the best environment for the puppies over eight weeks, it is imperative they receive the best home possible. Having a good relationship with potential owners and discussing their background and expectations, a decision is made as to who will be given the opportunity to purchase a puppy. Maintaining contact with owners beyond the sale date is essential.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Personal interviews are initially conducted after a verbal discussion over the phone. Condition of sale agreement is entered into to ensure the puppy receives the best of care in the new home, de-sexing is at the discretion of the new owner after consultation with their vet of choice.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.General support is offered to new owners; working as a team with the owner, vet and obedience club provides a broad knowledge base.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Our gate is always "open" where it is encouraged for all of our owners to acknowledge the first point of contact is with the breeder should their circumstances change and the puppy/adult/senior needs to be re-homed.
