Australian Firefighters Calendar - fundraising for Animals

This year Aussie Firefighters will be helping Australian animals, rescue pets, and therapy animals.  While The Australian Firefighters Calendar has traditionally supported some of Australia’s biggest Children’s charities, Director, David Rogers, says that “We felt that it was important to help some of the smaller charities... These grass roots organisations work tirelessly in their local community and make a huge difference..".

Proceeds from the Firefighters Calendar helps support the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, where injured native Australian animals have been cared for for over 70 years. This year the hospital will treat over 11,000 injured animals. Funds from the calendar will go to purchase new equipment and fund research into diseases affecting our koalas.

Some of the smaller community-based charities they support include Healing Hooves, who work with children suffering with Autism and Asperger’s, returned veterans suffering from PTSD,  and the elderly with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Proceeds from the Calender also go towards the BackTrack program.  Backtrack is an amazing initiative that brings dogs and disaffected youth together to transform lies. Pets Of The Homeless are another charity that benefit.  They not only feed the pets of homeless people, but also provide temporary housing for pets that can no longer be looked after by their owners due to domestic violence and other difficult situations.
