Woodskroft Kennel Black German Shepherds

German Shepherd Dog Breeder - Australia

Woodskroft Kennel is a small, farm based kennel in the Adelaide Hills. We have owned and loved GSD for over 40 years and recently now become registered breeders. We breed working line, black German Shepherds. Our breeding stock comes from brilliant lines including Alpinebase & imported German & Czech lines.

Both our Dam & current Sire have exceptional hip & elbow scores which can be confirmed by documentation, both are DM clear. All our pups are DM clear having inherited the -/- genetics (can be varified with Orivet testing previously carried out).

At Woodskroft GSD we are committed to improving this incredible breed & through time & dedication, exposure to many sites, sounds, experiences we believe our pups are stable and strong. The pups are very confident and ready to leave their litter at 8 weeks +

Our pups are very gentle, clever babies and would suit a forever life as your family pet, dog sport and of course general obedience.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Both the Dam & Sire have been genetically tested by Orivet with results availabe to send if required. Both dogs are clear of DM and do not carry the gene nor can they pass it on to ANY offspring. Both Dam and Sire have been Xrayed for hip and elbows and both have exceptional scores (availabe on request) We strictly follow the ANKC Breeder Guidelines and are proud to offer beautiful high quality GSD from exceptional lines

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Our pups are socialised with our family and some visitors at appropriate ages of pups. We socialise our pups with our farm animals and expose the pups to on lead visits to the horses and cows. We have a huge variety of wild birds which the pups love watching from their daytime outside enclosure also.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.I think I covered this in the previous question/answer
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I have conditions of ownership to new families in that they have to apply in writing for one of my pups. I screen everyone for soundness, knowledge of dogs especially GSD and also I do not sell my pups to people who rent a house. I strive for homes where the dogs will receive a great basic obedience at a minimum, a home where somewhere will be home at least some of the day and only sell pups to people/families who agree to keep in touch with Woodskroft Kennel via FB or DM

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. No.

I will endeveour to take the pup back or be fully involved if this unfortunate event might happen.
