Pet Minding & Boarding, Doggy Day Care - Cranley, QLD

Jovelles Cat Motel was established in 2005 and is managed by Terry and Chris Merritt. Terry and I have been breeding cats for more than 35 years so with this knowledge and experience, we designed and built our small, specialized CAT ONLY boarding facility.

Our visiting furr-persons stay in self-contained private units, large enough to bring items from home such as favourite beds, scratching poles and more.

Each unit has two different height shelves to allow our visitors to get exercise as well as relax up high, which is usually their favourite place. We also offer the use of an outdoor exercise yard for those wishing to exercise more in the outdoors.

There are solid walls between the units so that there is NO CONTACT between visiting felines. This is important both from a safety perspective as well as for health and well-being.

RATES
One cat or kitten - We charge $20 per day for each cat or kitten housed separately. If you bring your cat to us in the afternoon, we do NOT charge for that evening at all. The cost of boarding begins the next morning. If you collect your cat or kitten in the morning, there is no charge for those hours. There are several factors that influence the cost of boarding with us. At Jovelles Cat Motel, we charge by the day. Therefore whether your cat/s come in between 7-9am or 3-5pm affects how you will be charged.

CURRENT CHARGES: The rates quoted below are current as of the 1st July 2022.

BOARDING RATES - Two cats or kittens sharing
If two cats or kittens from the same household share, the charge is $35 per day.

3 or more?
If you have 3 or more cats / kittens, we can also accommodate them in our largest unit. Price from $45 per day by negotiation.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.We adhere as closely as possible to our Council's requirements for breeding age. Most queens have one or two litters and are then desexed and rehomed. We breed no more than three litters per two year period maximum. Our kittens are desexed, microchipped and vaccinated X 2 before leaving home. They are born and raised in our home with lots of love and cuddles so generally have wonderful temperaments. All breeding cats have been tested clear of all heritable diseases as available via DNA testing, including FALPS for British S/H. Our cattery is also FeLV and FIV clear.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.All kittens are born and raised in our home and get lots of attention from their human slaves as well as visiting grandchildren and friend's families.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.This is why we like a face to face / video chat with prospective owners. We like to get a feel for how this person plans to keep the kitten/s, totally indoors or in a secure enclosure is a MUST. I will not sell to people that I don't feel will abide by these rules.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.I prefer to be able to have a face to face with potential purchasers. With apps like WeChat etc, we can achieve this even when they live away from us. We do have a questionnaire that we like prospective purchasers to answer, though this is sometimes done through a video chat as well. There is no need for a desexing agreement as they are already desexed prior to leaving. Naturally we offer a health guarantee with all of our babies.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.We are always happy to assist our purchasers with any help they require. The last thing we say as they leave with their fur baby is " Now remember, let us know if you have any questions or concerns - we are always here to help!"
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.ON the very rare occasion that a fur kid needs to be rehomed, we try to find a good match for the particular cat though this is not always something we achieve. We do try though to make it happen.

Clubs & Associations

Question. Are you a current member of any breed clubs and/or associations?
Answer. No.
