The Canberra Veterinary Hospital, open 7 days, is one of only 32 Veterinary Hospitals in Australia to be recognised by the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ASAVA) as an Accredited Veterinary Hospital of Excellence. We have undertaken this process because we are serious about providing the highest standards of diagnostic, surgical, laboratory and nursing facilities achievable in our practice. We want you and your pets to expect the best.
We are open every day of the year except for public holidays. Consultations are by appointment so you won't be left waiting, and you can see any of our veterinarians at the time of your choice. Animals requiring emergency care will be given priority.
There is loads of parking right at the front door and the hospital is located at the corner of Northbourne Ave and the Barton Highway so access from anywhere in Canberra couldn't be easier.
Together with general veterinary services (such as vaccinations, medicine, surgery, x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory etc) we offer Puppy Pre-School and Dog Training, and assistance with Behaviour Problems. Please see our website for more information.
Cats and Dogs: Our highly qualified and experienced veterinary and nursing staff provide a complete range of medical, surgical, dental and other services for cats and dogs. The full range of treatment options and costs will be explained to you so that you may make the best choice for you and your pet. We have a unique expertise in feline hyperthyroidism and are referred many cats by surrounding veterinarians for radioactive iodine therapy.
The practice utilises video-endoscopy to allow imaging of the respiratory and gastro-intestinal tracts without the need for surgery. A tonopen and slit lamp enable extremely thorough investigation of eye (ophthalmology) cases.
Rabbits, mice, guinea pigs and ferrets: Our veterinarians are experienced in treating Ferrets, Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Rats and Mice. We provide medical services, surgical and desexing services, nutritional and management advice for all these pets.
Wildlife: In conjunction with the RSPCA, we will always accept sick or injured wildlife for treatment and assessment to enable them treated and passed onto qualified carers for rehabilitation.
The Canberra Veterinary Hospital is also proud to be associated with the Canberra Equine Hospital for the care of horses.
