Cherry Lola Poodles

Poodle - Miniature Dog Breeder - Kalgan WA

Welcome to Cherry Lola Poodles.

At Cherry Lola Poodles, our dogs are family first.

Located in Albany, Western Australia, we are a small, dedicated breeder of beautiful purebred, pedigreed RED Miniature Poodles. We are proud to be an ANKC registered breeder, with a strong commitment to ethical breeding, responsible ownership, excellent health and, above all, the lifelong well-being of every dog and puppy in our care.

Our breeding program has been built around a simple philosophy: healthy, happy and well-loved dogs should always come first.

Our poodles share our homes, our lives and our everyday routines. They are much-loved members of our family. Their physical and emotional well-being guides every decision we make, from choosing suitable breeding pairs and completing appropriate health and DNA testing, through to pregnancy, whelping, raising puppies and eventually selecting their new families.

We take great care when planning each litter. Health, temperament and genetic diversity are more important to us than producing a particular colour or appearance. While we have a special love for the beautiful, rich reds of the Miniature Poodle, our long-term breeding decisions are always centred upon producing healthy, confident and well-adjusted dogs.

Our puppies are born and raised within a loving home environment, surrounded by the normal sights, sounds and activities of family life. From their very first moments, they receive attentive, hands-on care. We believe those early weeks are incredibly important in shaping the dog a puppy will eventually become.

We do not believe puppies should simply be fed, housed and then sent to their new homes. We spend time with them, cuddle them, play with them, observe their personalities and gently introduce them to new experiences. Our aim is to help each puppy develop confidence, curiosity and trust in people.

Our commitment also extends beyond the puppy itself.

Choosing a Cherry Lola puppy means becoming part of our extended Cherry Lola family. We carefully consider the homes our puppies are going to and encourage prospective families to learn about Miniature Poodles before making that commitment. Poodles are exceptionally intelligent, affectionate and people-focused dogs. They thrive when they are genuinely included in family life and given the companionship, stimulation and love they deserve.

We also maintain close relationships with our Guardian families, who play an important role in our ethical breeding program by allowing selected dogs to enjoy normal, loving family homes throughout their lives.

For us, breeding is not about producing as many puppies as possible. It is about responsibility, careful planning and leaving the breed a little better with each generation.

Every Cherry Lola puppy begins life surrounded by love. When the time comes for them to leave us, our greatest hope is that they will spend the rest of their lives exactly the same way -- cherished, protected and completely part of the family.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.We DNA test our parent dogs and our puppies. We then provide our puppy owners with copies of their pup's DNA test results and linkage to their parents.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Our puppies are raised right in the heart of our family home, surrounded by our family pack. From an early age, they have the opportunity to interact with their mother, father and their poodle “aunties,” helping them learn important social skills and become confident, well-adjusted little dogs. Early socialisation and gentle desensitisation are an important part of how we raise every Cherry Lola puppy. As they grow, we gradually introduce them to the everyday sights, sounds and experiences of family life. Because they are raised in the centre of our household, they become familiar with everything from conversations, televisions and doors opening and closing to the coffee machine, vacuum cleaner and the general hustle and bustle of a busy home. We also gently introduce our puppies to grooming from an early age. They become familiar with brushes, clippers and being handled around their paws, ears, face and body. We aim to make these experiences normal and positive so that grooming and handling are less intimidating as they grow. Once they are old enough, our puppies enjoy carefully supervised outdoor play and a variety of age-appropriate enrichment activities. They are given tunnels to explore, little cubby houses, different surfaces and textures, and safe spaces where they can climb, investigate and dig. These experiences encourage curiosity, confidence, coordination and problem-solving while still allowing puppies to simply have fun and be puppies. At around five weeks of age, we also begin early toilet training, gently introducing the routines that will help make the transition into their new homes a little easier. Because we breed from a waitlist, our puppies usually have their new names from a very young age. We begin using those names while they are still with us, helping each puppy learn to recognise and respond to the name their new family has chosen. Above all, our puppies are raised with affection, patience and plenty of human interaction. They are not raised separately from everyday family life—they grow up as part of it. Our goal is to send each puppy home as a happy, curious and confident little family member who has been given the best possible start in life.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.We breed to a waitlist and ask potential families to fill out our questionnaire. After this, we talk with our families and remain in contact before and after the puppies are born. During our conversations, I send information pages about poodles, their needs, and requirements.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We have a purchase contract, which is a part of our process of purchase. This states that the puppy is on Limited Registration - Pet only. They are not to be bred from. And if the puppy/dog is unable to be cared for, they are to be returned to us. DNA Orivet testing result are provided to puppy owners includig Microchip registration with the Central Animal Register. We vaccinate our puppies with C4 vaccinations and worm them every 2 weeks. We offer free insurance for 6 weeks if asked for by the families. We do this because it requires personal information to be given to the insurance companies.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.Yes, we do, but only if requested. It's for 6 weeks, with permission from the owners to give their details to the insurance company. We are not affiliated with any pet insurance companies.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.We are all about community. We love our dogs; they are our family. We put so much love and effort into them that we are more than most happy to help with our families once the puppies go home. We talk privately with owners but also share and keep our contact and community alive and well through our Facebook page.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Through the purchase contract, if the owners are unable to care for their puppy/dog the dog MUST be returned to us, and we will then keep the dog in our family until an appropriate family can be found.
