AASHUDNA - Miniature Smooth Dachshund Breeder - Upper Hunter, NSW

Dachshund Dog Breeder - Scone NSW

We are breeders of quality Miniature Smooth Dachshunds of all colours, located in the Upper Hunter Valley, Scone - a three-hour drive from Sydney.

We refuse to compromise when it comes to responsible animal breeding practices. Our extensive health testing and commitment to champion bloodlines ensure you receive a healthy, high-quality puppy that will bring you years of companionship. We exceed the recommended health testing with our Mini Dachshunds which are DNA tested, IVD back scored, and have current heart, patella, eye and thyroid certificates prior to breeding.

All about the pedigree
We are committed to breeding only those dogs that have a well-known and documented pedigree. This ensures the reliability of our breeding process, the health of our puppies and the lasting legacy we leave on the dachshund breed. We believe that this commitment is what sets us apart as breeders.

Expect only the best from us
We've been registered with Dogs NSW for over 14 years and are passionate about dachshunds. We're active committee members of the Dachshund Club of NSW and have been showing and campaigning our dachshunds in competitions all over NSW for years.

I own, bred and showed the ONLY Australian Champion Chocolate and Tan coloured MALE miniature smooth Dachshund available at stud. I also have several other conformation champions and Earth dog (sporting) titles in my mix, of which I am very proud of.

If you are looking for a puppy, please visit our website for lots of information about us, my dachshunds, and about the breed. If you would like to be notified of a puppy litter, please complete our Expression of Interest Form via our website. Puppies are generally sold to those who have expressed interest prior to their birth, in order to avoid impulse buying.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.I DNA test my breeding aged Dachshunds for PRA, SDMD and IVDD backscore. My results are published in the National Dachshund Council website.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Aashudna Dachshund puppies are housed raised, and are exposed to daily household noises. The auto vacuum, dishes in the sink or hitting the counter tops. They are interacted with, and have a variety of toys which make different sounds and movement and kept in a clean environment.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.I view our Aashudna puppy buyers to be an extended member of my family. I feel that personalities of the buyer/s and seller must be compatible to ensure a smooth transaction and for myself to be available in the future for ongoing support. I will ask difficult questions if I feel that it is needed, that maybe of a personal nature. I am tactful about it. :)
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Aashudna Terms of sale is available to view on my website. www.aashudna.net.au If you are interested in my future puppies please complete my questionnaire online www.aashudna.net.au/puppyform

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. No.I do encourage buyers to consider insurance to cover for IVDD - which might be under accidental.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.I encourage buyers to have a relationship that they deem acceptable, where they feel comfortable to discuss any concerns or difficulties they're maybe experiencing.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Peoples situations change, we understand this. I would make every reasonable effort in: 1. Taking the dog back. 2. Aid in finding a suitable home.
