Hi, we're Emily and Courtney, the registered breeders behind Olenna Bengals based in North Brisbane, Queensland. As proud members of the Queensland Feline Association (QFA), we are committed to ethical, responsible breeding with a strong focus on health, temperament and breed quality.

Our Bengals are raised in a clean, enriched environment where they receive daily handling, socialisation and stimulation to help them grow into confident, affectionate and well-adjusted companions. We prioritise strong bloodlines, beautiful rosetting and, most importantly, sound temperament.

All kittens are:
- Microchipped
- Vaccinated
- Wormed and vet checked
- Registered
- Raised with plenty of human interaction (kids included)

Health testing and careful pairing of our breeding cats is extremely important to us. We aim to produce healthy kittens with strong genetics and clear lineage.

We are always happy to answer questions and support our kitten families before and after adoption. Our goal is to ensure every kitten is matched with the right home for a lifetime of love.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.We health test in accordance with current breed standards and recommended guidelines for Bengals. Olenna breeding cats undergo DNA testing for known genetic conditions relevant to the breed, including PK-deficiency (PKDef) and PRA-b. We ensure that breeding pairings are planned responsibly to avoid producing affected kittens. We are aware that Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a concern within the Bengal breed, and we prioritise strong lines with no known history of HCM. Where appropriate, cardiac screening is undertaken, and we remain committed to monitoring developments in breed health research. All breeding cats are routinely vet checked, vaccinated and maintained in excellent physical condition. Health records and relevant test results are transparently shared with kitten families to ensure full disclosure and confidence. The long-term health, temperament and genetic integrity of our kittens is our highest priority.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.Socialisation is a very important part of how we raise our kittens. Olenna Bengal kittens will be raised in a busy, loving family environment alongside our four young children. From an early age they will receive gentle daily handling, exposure to normal household sounds and positive interaction with different people. Growing up in a family setting helps build confidence, adaptability and affectionate temperaments. We live on acreage and prioritise enrichment, space and stimulation. As our breeding cats mature, they are being gradually introduced to lead training and positive outdoor experiences in a safe and controlled manner. We are committed to raising confident, well-adjusted Bengals who are accustomed to human interaction and an active environment. We will carefully observe each kitten’s personality to ensure thoughtful placement into suitable homes. We also take time to educate our families about the Bengal breed’s intelligence, energy levels and enrichment needs, so they feel equipped to continue positive socialisation and provide appropriate stimulation. Our goal is for every kitten to leave us confident, secure and well-prepared for life as a cherished companion.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.At Olenna Bengals, ensuring our kittens go to the right home is a very high priority for us. We prefer a face-to-face meeting where possible, however we always conduct a thorough phone conversation or extended discussion before confirming a placement. This allows us to understand the family’s lifestyle, previous pet experience, home environment and expectations of the Bengal breed. We take time to explain the breed’s high energy, intelligence and enrichment needs to ensure families are fully prepared. We also discuss indoor safety, enrichment, nutrition and long-term commitment before accepting a deposit. Kittens are matched thoughtfully based on temperament and personality, not simply chosen on appearance. Our goal is to ensure every kitten is placed in a home that is suitable, informed and committed to providing lifelong care.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.All kitten families receive written documentation outlining our conditions of sale, health guarantee and care information. This includes a written sales agreement, vaccination and microchip records, desexing requirements, and details regarding health testing of the parents. We provide clear information regarding our health guarantee and the steps to take should any concerns arise. Families also receive written guidance on Bengal-specific care, including nutrition, enrichment requirements, indoor safety, litter training, scratching behaviour, and the breed’s high energy and intelligence needs. We emphasise the importance of appropriate stimulation and environmental enrichment to ensure long-term wellbeing. Our aim is to ensure families feel informed, supported and confident in providing lifelong care for their kitten.
