AVELINE BENGALS

Bengal Cat Breeder - Narangba QLD

QFA Registered Bengal Breeder | North Brisbane, QLD

Hi I'm Courtney, the registered breeder behind Aveline Bengals.

At Aveline Bengals, we focus on health, temperament and breed type in every aspect of our breeding program. Our cats and kittens are raised in a loving family environment and are socialised with children from an early age, helping them develop into confident, affectionate and well-adjusted companions.

The health of our Bengals is a priority. We are a health testing cattery and therefore all our breeding cats are:

- HCM cardiac screened
- DNA tested and clear of PRA-b and PK-Def through UC Davis testing.
- Carefully selected for health, temperament, pedigree and Bengal type

Every pairing is thoughtfully planned with a focus on strong genetics and healthy, happy kittens.

Aveline Bengal kittens leave for their new homes:

-Vaccinated
-Desexed
-Microchipped
-Flea and Wormed
-Vet checked x 2
-Certified pedigree papers
-Vet issued health certificate
-Kitten pack

Every kitten is raised with plenty of love, handling and enrichment, and we provide ongoing communication and support to our kitten families before and after their kitten goes home.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.At Aveline Bengals, health testing is an important part of our breeding program. All breeding cats are DNA tested for PRA-b and PK-Def through UC Davis and undergo HCM cardiac screening by echocardiogram. I understand that PRA-b and PK-Def are autosomal recessive conditions. DNA results are reviewed prior to breeding so that carrier status can be taken into consideration and two carriers are not paired together, preventing the production of genetically affected kittens. As there is currently no Bengal-specific DNA test for HCM, cardiac screening is undertaken separately and breeding cats are monitored throughout their breeding lives. Health testing results, known genetic status and relevant health history are discussed openly with our kitten families, with testing documentation available to support the health history of our breeding cats.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.At Aveline Bengals, our kittens are raised in a family home environment and are socialised from an early age with young children, other cats and dogs. They are handled daily and exposed to normal household sounds, routines and activity to help them develop into confident, affectionate and well-adjusted pets. We provide age-appropriate enrichment, play, climbing opportunities, toys and positive human interaction to support both their physical and behavioural development. Before leaving for their new homes, we ensure our kitten families understand the importance of continuing socialisation, routine and enrichment. We provide guidance on settling in, feeding, litter habits, play, handling and safe introductions to other pets and family members. Each kitten also leaves with a kitten pack, and we remain available to provide ongoing support and advice to our families after their kitten goes home.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Ensuring each kitten is placed in the right home is a very high priority at Aveline Bengals. We take the time to get to know prospective families and discuss their lifestyle, household, children, other pets, previous cat experience and expectations of owning a Bengal. This helps us determine whether a Bengal is suitable for their home and which kitten may be the best fit based on temperament and personality. We communicate personally with prospective owners and are happy to have a phone or verbal discussion where required. We also ensure families understand the Bengal breed, including their need for interaction, enrichment, exercise and ongoing companionship. Our goal is to place every kitten in a safe, loving and permanent home where their individual needs will be understood and met. We also remain available to provide ongoing support after the kitten has joined their new family.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.At Aveline Bengals, each kitten is sold with a written sales agreement outlining the conditions of sale, ownership responsibilities, health expectations, desexing status, pedigree documentation and any applicable guarantees or warranty provisions. New owners are also provided with written information covering the ongoing care and maintenance of their Bengal, including feeding, litter routines, grooming, parasite prevention, vaccinations, enrichment, safe housing, socialisation and introductions to other pets.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.Yes - Aveline Bengals offer our kitten families Knose Pet Insurance.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.We provide ongoing support to our kitten families both before and after their kitten goes home. We are available to assist with settling in, introductions to children and other pets, feeding, litter habits, enrichment and general behavioural concerns. We also encourage owners to contact us if they have any health or behavioural concerns so we can offer guidance and, where appropriate, recommend veterinary or professional support. Our aim is to maintain an ongoing relationship with our families and support each kitten throughout their transition into their new home.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.Yes - We can offer assistance after a kitten has gone home if requested by our customers.
