AMBERGLADE RAGDOLLS Adelaide, SA

Ragdoll Cat Breeder - Adelaide SA

My name is Elly and I am a hobby Ragdoll breeder registered with GCCFSA and am situated in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. We have been very successful at the shows winning Best Ragdoll Kitten Of The Year with our home bred babies year after year as well as Group 1 Breeder of the Year and numerous other awards. Our gorgeous blue eyed balls of fluff are known for their wonderful temperament making them suitable for families with babies, young children, singles and also the elderly.

Our babies are all raised inside my home where they receive lots of love and attention and go home between 12 and 13 weeks of age after they have been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and are free of internal and external parasites. Our kittens also come with 6 weeks of free pet insurance from Petplan, this covers illness, injury, theft or death.

You will receive pedigree papers, a folder full of information needed on diet, worming records and care for your new kitten, the microchip form, a desexing certificate, vaccination and health check card.

When picking up your new Kitten you must have a clean safe carry cage to take your kitten home in. It is illegal to carry the kitten on your lap in the car plus for the safety of your new baby it will need to be in a hard not soft sided travel crate. If you do not have one you may purchase one from us. We can supply you with the Australian made, airline approved PP20 for $60. We will not allow a kitten to leave our home without a suitable cat carrier.

We also have the special sieve litter trays used with the wood pellets (this is what our kittens are used to). They are available for $ including the 15kg bag of wood pellets. Please order these when you place your order for your new baby so that I can make sure I have them in stock.

Our adults and babies are raised on a Premium grade diet ensuring healthy growth and development. Our cats are DNA tested clear for PKD and HCM and are FIV and FeLV negative.

To avoid disappointment it is best to place an order for one of our purrecious babies many months in advance as we do work with a waiting list and rarely do we have babies available that have not been reserved in advance. We also like to space our litters out so as to not have too many babies of the same age at the same time so that we can devote enough time to each baby.

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss the possibility of owning (being owned) one of our special babies.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.My cats lines are all negative to HCM through DNA testing

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.My kittens are all born and raised inside my home and picked up and cuddled daily and then once they are up and about played with daily.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I ask a lot of questions and also ask questions like if they are in a rental property do they have permission to have a cat inside. I also ask if they are an elderly person and if something should happen to them or be hospitalised or move into a nursing home have they got a family member that will take care of the kitten/cat in this situation. I also ask about other pets in the home as well as ages of children in the home and point out that my kittens are sold strictly as an indoor pet and must not be allowed to roam freely outside.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.I supply information on feeding, introducing the kitten to their new home, worming and flea treatment, vaccinations, the type of litter the kitten is used to using, what type they can safely use if they wish to change it. Grooming requirements and which brushes are combs I recommend. To feel free to contact me at any time to answer questions if needed etc.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.My kittens go with 6 weeks of pet insurance through Petplan

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.I also supply information on introducing the kitten to other animals in the house, discuss why and what to do should the kitten start to not use their litter tray. The play getting to rough. What to do if your kitten is keeping you awake at night.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. Yes.I do ask that question as I want to know where my babies are and ask them to contact me if the situation ever arises. I have helped to find them a new home when needed.
