Xioma Dogs - Chinese Crested Dog & Peruvian Hairless Dog Breeder - Adelaide

Chinese Crested, Peruvian Hairless Dog Breeder - Lewiston SA

We have been in the dog world for 50 years and have tried to maintain the type and temperament of our dogs. We have been successful in the Show Ring and now with our dogs in the Sporting courses.

Our dogs have gone to many countries as show dogs or beloved pets. A good home is paramount and we will always take our dogs back if they can no longer stay with their owners.

We feel our Chinese Crested have contributed greatly to the success of kennels both in Australia and overseas and we gratefully acknowledge the debt we owe to the breeders who have gone before us. To that end we progressively PRCD and PLL by DNA all our stock. We were the first kennel to import Cresteds from the USA and Sweden and the first to import a Perro Sin Pelo Del Peru from Finland.

Quality is no accident. Each litter is a carefully planned combination of our lines and other tested lines we consider suitable to include in a breeding. We ensure that both Sire and Dam are PRCD and PLL Clear or that only 1 is a carrier. Health Checked and Health Tested are not the same thing, be aware of the difference. Health Checked is a general health check by a veterinarian. Health Testing is specific testing for genetic problems that can occur in the breed. Health Tests are carried out to reduce the risk of breeding these problems into the future dogs of our breed.

About the Peruvian Hairless Dog:
Peruvians love to play, they also like to dig A LOT. This is part of the breed, they are hunting dogs the mediums and small are ratters and digging up nests are what they do.

The large will also hunt mice rabbits and rats and just dig bigger holes. Make sure your dog is occupied with bones and toys (that cant be destroyed). The do grow out of the destructive stage but it can be trying. Training your dog and doing things with it will reduce this behaviour, but it will still happen.

The Peruvian Hairless Dog is a breed that goes back at least 3,000 in Peru. They are a Primitive Sight hound with a well developed hunting instinct. Ancient Peruvians used them to catch small game and to destroy the rat population in the grain houses. The larger coated dogs were used to hunt larger game. The dog comes in two varieties. Hairless and Coated.
