Okelani Samoyeds

Samoyed Dog Breeder - Barmedman NSW

We're a small, passionate family that loves our dogs. Breeding happy, healthy dogs isn't just what we do--it's what we truly care about. All of our dogs are thoroughly health tested, including hips, elbows, eyes, patella and DNA.

At Okelani, our dogs are part of the family. We make sure they grow up in a safe, loving environment where they're well-socialised and cared for every step of the way. Whether it's playtime in the yard or a cozy nap inside, their well-being always comes first.

We're proud to do our part in preserving the amazing qualities that make SAMOYEDS so special. From their health and temperament to their unique personalities, we aim to raise dogs that make wonderful companions.

A bit about the breed:
The Samoyed is a friendly and intelligent breed known for its stunning white coat and signature "Sammy smile." Originally bred as working dogs the Samoyede people of Siberia, they are renowned for strength, endurance, and ability to thrive in cold climates. These and affectionate dogs make excellent companions, thriving in active households they can engage with their family. With their playful nature and gentle temperament, Samoyeds are just beautiful dogs but also loyal and loving members of the family.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.We hip and elbow score all of our dogs and carry out a complete Dna screening on all dogs. Our dogs are all eye tested. The shiba inu also have their patellas grades. Our girls will only ever have a maximum of two litters and then they are desexed and they still remain living with us. We offer a health guarantee on all puppies sold and we also provide a $250 desexing rebate on proof of desexing. We are here for our puppy homes 24/7 for the life if their puppy.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Our puppies are raised on our farm with our four kids. They are brought up around a number of different animals. Once they have had their first vaccination my family and friends visit often so puppies are used to alot of different experiences by the time they leave our home.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.I like to meet the people and i like to see them around my dogs and how they interact. We travel alot for dog shows so get to meet alot of our future puppy families that way.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We have all of the above. As we live in a remote location it is not always possible to meet people face to face but I would not sell a puppy to someone i have not spoke to on the phone a number of times.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.PETCOVER - 8 WEEKS

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.We are always here for our puppy buyers, we are babysitting one now for 6 weeks as they are moving house. We are always here for phone calls or anything else they need. If they are in a location too far from me i organise for one of dane breeder friends to meet up with them
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.I have a clause in my contract that all animals must come back to me if they are no longer able to keep them.
