Breeding Smooth and Miniature Smooth Dachshunds, with the addition of Basset Hounds in 2008. Collectively as a mother/daughter duo under the Kamahi prefix have over 80 years combined breeding experience, showing and handling to various titles of Australian, Grand and Supreme Champions winning multi Best in Show, Best in Hound Group and Best Class in Show awards at both All Breed and Speciality shows, including Best in Hound Group placements at numerous Royals, under Judges here in Australian and from around the world.

Meaghan is a trainee Judge in the Hound Group and qualified Junior Handler Judge. She is currently a committee member of the Basset Hound Club of Victoria Dachshund Club of Victoria and serves as a qualified VCA Representative for DogsVictoria. Brenda formerly served as President of the Dachshund Club of Victoria.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Currently test for LaFora Disease, Primary Open Angle Glaucoma and Thrombopathia (Basset Hound Type).

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Our puppies are enriched with a range of sensory play activities. Our puppies get to see and meet other animals. Our puppies get to meet a range of adults and children. Our puppies are exposed to a range of household noises and outdoor noises to build their confidence. Our puppies are raised in our family home. We introduce our puppies to collars and leads so they are already starting to feel comfortable with these before they come home with you. Our puppies will be introduced to grooming, nail trims and baths.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.We run a strict vetting process to all potential puppy buyers.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.All puppies are sold with ANKC Pedigree Papers on the limited register, we offer a cash back incentive upon receiving a copy of puppies de-sexing certificate at the correct age.
