I follow Puppy Culture protocols and enrich them with my own advanced behavioural science program to nurture confidence, resilience, and adaptability.
These early foundations help my puppies grow into dogs who handle life's challenges with ease.

Health testing & screening
Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Yes. I have a strong understanding of the inherited health conditions that can affect Border Collies and take health testing seriously when planning a litter. My breeding decisions consider the health, temperament, structure and genetic background of the dogs involved, rather than relying on appearance or pedigree alone.
I undertake DNA testing for relevant inherited conditions and carefully consider the genetic status of potential breeding dogs to avoid producing puppies affected by known recessive disorders. I also consider the wider health history of the lines behind my dogs when making breeding decisions.
I do not currently undertake formal hip and elbow scoring, so I do not claim that my breeding dogs have been hip or elbow scored. Their parents all have been. There are no incidences of hip dysplasia in their lines. I believe it is important to be transparent about the testing I do and do not undertake.
Border Collies can be affected by a range of inherited conditions, including conditions such as Collie Eye Anomaly, progressive retinal atrophy, neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, multidrug sensitivity and other DNA-testable disorders. There are also conditions for which DNA testing is not available or does not provide a complete picture of risk. I am careful to avoid both Discoid Lupus & Epilepsy lines.
Health testing is therefore only one part of responsible breeding. I consider available genetic testing alongside family history, clinical health, temperament, structure and the individual suitability of each dog for breeding. My aim is to make informed breeding decisions that reduce avoidable genetic risk while maintaining healthy, functional and behaviourally sound Border Collies.
Preparation & socialisation
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.I raise my puppies in a carefully designed home environment, with a strong focus on early development, enrichment and positive learning experiences. As a small, hands-on breeder, I am personally involved in their daily care and development from birth until they leave for their new homes.
As the puppies grow, I progressively adapt their environment to suit their changing developmental needs. They are introduced to a wide range of age-appropriate experiences, including different surfaces, sounds, objects, environments, handling and gentle novelty. They have opportunities to explore, investigate, climb, move over varied surfaces and interact with carefully selected enrichment. Their environment is regularly changed and expanded to encourage curiosity, confidence and problem solving.
I approach early socialisation thoughtfully and at each puppy’s individual pace. My focus is not simply on exposing puppies to as many things as possible, but on ensuring that experiences are positive, carefully managed and appropriate for their stage of development. Puppies are gradually introduced to everyday household activity, different people and other suitable experiences they are likely to encounter in family life.
I also begin gentle handling and preparation for routine care, including grooming, nail trimming and veterinary style handling. Puppies experience short, age-appropriate periods of independence and are given plenty of opportunity for rest and recovery, supporting the development of emotional regulation and resilience.
My approach is informed by current understanding of puppy development, behaviour and early learning. I use principles from Puppy Culture alongside my own knowledge and experience, with the aim of giving every puppy the strongest possible foundation for life. I also provide ongoing education and support to new families so they can continue their puppy’s socialisation, learning and development after taking their puppy home.
Placement & matching
Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Absolutely. Ensuring that every puppy is placed in the right home is one of my highest priorities. I believe responsible breeding does not end when a puppy is born. Choosing the right family for each puppy is an essential part of giving that puppy the best possible start in life.
I take time to get to know prospective families and encourage open, honest communication about their lifestyle, previous dog experience, expectations and what they are looking for in a puppy. I want to ensure they understand the needs of a Border Collie and are prepared for the commitment involved in raising and caring for an intelligent, active and highly social breed.
I also provide extensive information and education to prospective and new owners, including guidance on puppy development, training, nutrition, health care and ongoing socialisation. I encourage families to ask questions and make informed decisions before committing to a puppy.
My goal is not simply to find homes for puppies, but to find suitable, loving and responsible homes where each puppy is wanted, understood and cared for throughout its life. I also provide ongoing support to my puppy families and remain available for guidance after a puppy has gone to its new home.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Yes. I use a comprehensive buyer questionnaire as part of my puppy placement process, and I personally communicate with prospective families before a puppy is placed. The questionnaire helps me understand their lifestyle, previous dog experience, expectations, living arrangements and their understanding of the needs of a Border Collie.
I do not require a de-sexing agreement. My puppies are not sold with a requirement that they be de-sexed at a particular age, as I believe decisions regarding de-sexing should be made thoughtfully in consultation with the owner’s veterinarian, taking into account the individual dog and its circumstances.
Each puppy receives a veterinary health examination before leaving for its new home and is provided with a veterinary health certificate. New owners also receive comprehensive information about their puppy’s health, development, nutrition and ongoing care, together with continued support and guidance after their puppy goes home.
My priority is to ensure that puppies are placed in suitable, loving and responsible homes where their individual needs will be understood and their welfare will remain a priority throughout their lives.
Insurance options
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.Yes. Each puppy is provided with **30 days of complimentary pet insurance through Knose Pet Insurance** when they go to their new home.
I provide this as an added layer of protection during the important transition period when a puppy is settling into their new family. I encourage new owners to review the policy carefully and consider their ongoing insurance needs before the complimentary cover expires.
Ongoing support
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.Yes. Ongoing support is an important part of my commitment to every puppy and family. My relationship with a puppy family does not end when their puppy leaves my care.
I provide an extensive Puppy Manual covering the many aspects of raising and caring for a puppy, including health, nutrition, development, training, grooming, exercise and emotional wellbeing. I also provide ongoing education through my Facebook page, a dedicated Facebook Education Platform and a private Puppies Group for my puppy families, where owners can access information, resources and support.
I am available to provide individual guidance as each puppy grows, including questions about development, behaviour, training, nutrition, grooming, general care and settling into their new home. I encourage families to contact me if they are uncertain or experiencing difficulties, rather than trying to manage challenges alone.
I also ask that if, for any reason, a family is no longer able to keep one of my puppies or dogs, they contact me. I will either have the dog returned to me or work with the family to help find a suitable new home. I do not want one of my dogs to ever be placed in an unsuitable situation because a family feels they have nowhere to turn.
My commitment is to the lifelong welfare of every puppy I breed. I want my families to know that support remains available throughout their dog’s life.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Yes. If a family is unable to keep a dog purchased from me, I ask them to contact me so that I can assist with the next steps.
Where appropriate, I will have the dog returned to me, or I will work with the family to help identify and assess a suitable new home. My priority is that the dog is placed somewhere safe, loving and appropriate for its individual needs.
I believe responsible breeding includes a lifelong commitment to the welfare of the dogs I breed. Families should never feel that they have to navigate rehoming alone or make a rushed decision because they are unsure where to turn.
