Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Answer. Yes.Yes. I follow current health-testing recommendations for the British Shorthair breed. All breeding cats are DNA tested through reputable laboratories for known hereditary conditions relevant to the breed (including PKD) and are cleared prior to entering the breeding program. I also maintain regular veterinary health checks to monitor overall wellbeing. Health information, including DNA status and vaccination/desexing records, is openly shared with prospective families to ensure transparency. I educate new owners about any relevant breed-specific considerations and provide all veterinary documentation so they have a complete understanding of their kitten’s health history.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Answer. Yes.Yes. My kittens are raised in a home environment where they receive continual, positive socialisation from birth. They are exposed to household sounds, gentle handling, age-appropriate enrichment, and interactions that support confident temperament development. I focus on meeting their emotional and environmental needs through structured play, early litter training, and gradual introduction to new experiences. Before going to their new homes, families receive guidance on how to continue this socialisation so the kitten’s progress is maintained. I provide ongoing support to help ensure a smooth transition and well-adjusted companion.

Placement & matching

Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Ensuring that each kitten is matched with the right home is extremely important to me. I speak with all prospective families to understand their lifestyle, experience, expectations, and environment, so I can assess whether a kitten will be a good long-term fit. This is done through a verbal or personal interview, followed by ongoing communication throughout the reservation period. I provide honest guidance about each kitten’s temperament and needs, and I only place kittens in homes where I am confident they will receive excellent care, stability, and companionship.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Answer. Yes.Yes. I provide all records including desexing, microchipping, and vaccination records. Families also receive written information about caring for a British Shorthair kitten, covering nutrition, grooming, environmental needs, litter training, socialisation continuation, and safe indoor living. I include veterinary documentation, breeder registration details, and general guidance to support long-term health and welfare. My aim is to ensure new owners feel fully informed and prepared before bringing their kitten home.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. No.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Answer. Yes.Yes. I offer lifelong support for every kitten I breed. Families are welcome to contact me at any time for guidance on behaviour, settling-in issues, introductions to other pets, diet, or general care. I believe responsible breeding includes being available to assist owners throughout the cat’s life, and I encourage ongoing communication to ensure each kitten thrives in its new home.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Answer. No.
