Wynbourn Miniature Long-Haired Dachshunds - Bega, NSW

Dachshund Dog Breeder - NSW

Specialising in miniature long-haired dachshunds: red, cream, black & tan, black & cream. Quality house-reared puppies from champion bloodlines occasionally available to loving homes.

We have shared our life with these gorgeous little characters since the 1970s both in the UK and Australia and I've been a registered breeder since 2006. Our home is on acreage in the beautiful Bega Valley and our dogs live inside the house as part of our family.

All inquiries welcome: please email with some information about yourself and the home you could offer to one of our precious pups.

NB: Hi everyone. Given the current circumstances we're all now living under (coronavirus/COVID-19), I'm not sure when I'll have puppies available next. I'm hoping that, if things improve, I may have a litter later in the year. Stay safe and well! (2/4/20)

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Testing for cord1 PRA to ensure that no puppies can be affected. Breeding for optimum health and temperament of puppies, as well as conforming to breed standard.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Puppies are born and raised in the house with our family and other pets.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.I ideally like to meet prospective owners but if that is not possible I will call them to discuss the commitment they are intending to make and to determine whether their home and lifestyle will be able to accommodate the needs of the puppy.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I always speak to prospective new owners to ensure that they have the time to spend with the puppy and that they have an understanding of the dachshund breed. I register puppies on the Limited Register (not for breeding or showing) unless the puppy is going to another registered breeder and I provide six weeks' puppy insurance for new owners.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.I am happy to be contacted at any time if new owners have any concerns or require any information about raising their puppy.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.I would help with re-homing if necessary.
