Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.I do complete Orivet Breed Panels (DNA testing) on all of my breeding stock. I have done hip and elbow scoring on all my breeding stock in the past, but now I only do the males.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Socialization is extremely important to me. I have a protocol very similar to Puppy Culture. Plus, I take my puppies to other places (dog classes I both teach and take), other properties, etc. Pups meet constantly meet new people, new dogs, other animals and we encourage people to come interact with them once they are about 4.5 weeks old and ready to play & cuddle. I do ENS from day 3 thru 17 and sensory stimuli from there onwards. Pups are PAT evaluated with written records of their tests kept. Wazwallaby pups are evaluated per each client's requirements, too.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Buyer's Questionnaire, phone or personal interviews, condition of sale that buyers remain in contact with me regarding their puppy, plus I may check with their veterinarian and/or past breeders they have purchased from.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.We have a Questionnaire for all buyers, verbal or personal interviews, written health warranty. Occasionally there conditions to a sale., but all tis is discussed prior. Sometimes there is a desexing agreement on Limit females, but not with Main registration.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.Each Wazwallaby puppy comes with free insurance for 4 weeks to give you peace of mind.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.At Wazwallaby we stand behind what we breed and I am available for consultation/ advice/ feedback throughout the lifetime of the puppy. In emergency, I am available 24/7.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.My Wazwallaby sales contract stipulates that I have first right of refusal should any dog ever need to be re-homed and I have re-homed any of my dogs that have needed it for whatever reason. That is the mark of an ethical and responsible breeder.
