Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Hip and Elbow Dysplasia - so parents are xrayed. Flatcoats have an eye exam, but their is no other DNA related testing for them, unlike our Labradors that can have a full DNA health test done.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.All of our litters are raised in the house with normal house sounds. They are handled daily and socialised with family and friends that visit. They also meet the older dogs as well. They have plenty of toys and different textures in their whelping box.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.100% its a priority. We try our best to make sure that each home gets a puppy suitable for thier situation / family etc. Eg. Would not sell a super quiet puppy to a home with lots of kids as they need a puppy that wants to play, whereas a quiter puppy is usually better for older people. Unless of course they are super active too. Each situation is different and each home has different ideals. We like our pupply people to have a choice picking their puppy but we will also tell them if the puppy they like is not suitable too and why.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.One platform we use has a questionnaire. Contact via emails and talking on the phone is good way to get to know and understand what sort of puppy they are after. We sell our "pet" pups on limited register being not for breeding or showing, but will always consider main register homes too. There are no conditions of sale as such, just that if the person can no longer keep the puppy that they contact us first. Our puppies go home with an extensive folder of information on how to care for the puppy as it is growing.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.We have been using Trupanion which offer 4 weeks cover (and they are excellent) but are also looking in to Knose as well.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.We tell people to call, email, message us with any questions. We are more than happy to help.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Yes they are told to contact us first and foremost. If the dog is okay with the owners pending a new home, we prefer to keep it there as it is easier on the dog than coming here, going there, coming back, going to new home etc. (We took a dog back at a week off her 14th birthday as owners were moving and couldnt take her...she lived here till she was 16 year 10 months old).
