Indie was originally found with a litter of kittens before being taken into foster care around six years ago. Once her kittens were adopted, she found a home where she's been deeply loved for five and a half years. Now, due to changes in her guardian's life, Indie is ready to begin a new chapter with Cat People of Melbourne and find another person who appreciates her strong sense of self and affection on her terms.
Indie is a black-and-white short-haired beauty who carries herself with queenly confidence and midlife grace. She's affectionate, clever, and knows exactly what she wants. She's happiest when she's near her human -- preferably on your lap or perched on your shoulders, purring into your ear and headbutting you to show her love. Indie loves to groom your hair, nap in sunny spots, and supervise from a high perch. She has a healthy appetite and will gleefully help herself to your dinner if you're not watching!
Her ideal home is quiet and adult-only, where her independence is respected and her signals are understood. She's best as the only cat, though she may tolerate a calm, respectful dog. Indie isn't suited to homes with young children or other cats, but she bonds deeply once she feels secure.
This unique lady is like a glamorous aunt -- a little bossy, sometimes cranky, but full of warmth and personality. When she chooses you, it's genuine. To adopt from us you'll be required to have minimum an online meet & greet, a remote house check, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Our animals are fully vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being advertised. They are evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and any known issues are communicated. NOT NEGOTIABLE CONDITIONS: indoor only/restrained to property & must be fed raw or vet prescription wet food.
We will communicate through every step of the process to ensure that the experience is excellent and your feline companion is the right fit. Read the contract for T&Cs for returns.
You must have residency in Australia to adopt from our group. If you are visiting or on a visa, talk to us about fostering instead!
