BFFUREVER Cocker Spaniels

Cocker Spaniel Dog Breeder - Broadwater, VIC

BFFUREVER is a small breeder of Cocker Spaniels producing sound and true to type puppies with lovely temperaments. Our grown dogs are adored and spoilt member of our family and our puppies are raised inside with us where they are much loved by our children and extended human family members.

We have owned Cocker Spaniels for the last 14 years and have in the last few years ventured into the show ring with our fabulous mentor, Judith O'Brien of Silverblue Kennels. We are only new to this sport but enjoy showing and any ribbons that we receive with our lovely dogs.

We know how wonderful it is to have this beautiful breed and wholeheartedly believe in the health benefits, physically and mentally, of having a canine family member for everyone to love.

Our dogs are clear of AN, PRA, FN & AON and have been hip scored. Our dogs and puppies are raised on a diet of raw food, Advance and Royal Canin kibble.

We couldn't imagine life without a Cocker Spaniel!!.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.All our dogs are hip and elbow scored and are well below the recorded breed average (that's a good thing). Our dogs are also DNA tested for all testable genetic diseases specific to Cocker Spaniels. All our dogs test negative for these genetic diseases such as AN, AON, PRA, FN, breeding is always done in a considered approach, confirmation, temperament and health is always considered in breeding for the betterment of the breed.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Puppies are raised in our family home, with all the sights and sounds of a busy family life, they have tactile outside play time, are exposed to fun water play (weather permitting) and to outside noises such as the lawn mower, tractors, cars and weather, eg thunderstorms and rain

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Absolutely, our puppies are adored by us and go to owners/families that we know will also adore them.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I have a Contract of Sale for all our puppies, provide copies of all the DNA Health testing completed and Hip and Elbow Score results. I communicate to my potential owners by email and over the phone before offering a viewing of puppies available.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. No.This is a personal decision to be made by Owners without the guilt of extending or continuing insurance policies. I advise owners they should weigh up their options with pet insurance v's the offers vet clinics make for yearly memberships that cover desexing and offer discounts on medication and even food sold in the clinic.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.Yes, I ask my owners to program my mobile number into their phone and to call when they have a question or are worried, no question is a silly one and I'd rather an owner ask. If I don't know the answer I will find out for them.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.If an owner is unable to continue to own one of our dogs we would ask that the dog be returned to us to be rehomed.
