Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Being a vet nurse I believe in all health testing that is required for my breed.Diseases Factor VII Deficiency Mullerian Duct Syndrome (Miniature Schnauzer Type) Myotonia Congenita (Miniature Schnauzer Type) Progressive Retinal Atrophy - Type A (Miniature Schnauzer Type) I have my breeding stock eyes tested yearly and supply a copy to the owners of the new pup. SA will be required to DNA for parentage in Jan 2019.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.I ensure my pups are fully socialized by having a group visit every weekend until they leave my home. I have tunnels, a large square mobiles for them to play with that I have made, also a baby mobile that they have at 3 weeks on age in the whelping area, a rabbit hutch outside lined with carpet to help them climb over. They leave being very confident and well socialized pups. Loud noise, music, tv's and in my grooming room to get them used to the noises. I also start to groom their bottoms at 2 weeks and work on from there. By the time they leave my home they are used to the grooming table and being groomed.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.I like to get to know where the pup will be sleeping that is my first insight into an owner. I like to check the property for fencing and how the family interact with the pup and also as a family together.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.I have an interview with all prospective owners and provide a full booklet of what a miniature schnauzer can be fed, what drugs that can not be used. Some flea treatments are full of toxins and should not be used. Grooming guide, a list of food toxins that are in human food that they should never give a dog. When the dog was wormed , micro-chipped and vaccinated and a signed health check by the vet for their booklet that I supply. I also give 6 weeks pet insurance with Pet Plan. I go through my booklet throughly as I want to make sure they fully understand their role in making sure their new pup stays healthy.

Insurance options

Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Answer. Yes.Pet Plan 6 weeks free insurance
