BERNEDALE SAINT BERNARDS - Brisbane, QLD

St. Bernard Dog Breeder - QLD

Bernedale have bred over 100 Champions, 6 Dual Champions, 6 Grand Champions and 1 Supreme Champion.
We do not breed just to satisfy a pet market, but only when we want something from a particular sire and dam ourselves, as such health and temperament is a huge priority and we are most proud of our unblemished record regarding temperament.

Our Saints are not imprisoned in kennels 24x7, they can all free run together and enjoy life lying on our patio, roaming and playing together on acreage and being inside in air conditioning on hot days.
We do have kennels where they are fed as some have different diets, and also where they can be contained if needed after sterilisation or when girls are in season.

Many of our families now have their 2nd, 3rd and even 4th Saint from us, this record speaks for itself and we are super proud of not only what we have produced, but also the wonderful families that give our Saints such wonderful homes and happy well balanced lives.

Breeding from our home grown kids and imported blood lines from the USA and New Zealand, we sometimes have puppies available.

Always available for any breed related enquiries, we offer lifelong 24x7 support to all in our extended families.
We are active members of numerous local Allbreed Clubs.
We also maintain our membership to The Saint Bernard Club of America, which enables us to receive the latest news on breed specific health testing and all the latest news and results obtained in breed research.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.All our breeding Saints are dna tested, x rayed and scored for both hip and elbow dysplasia.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.All our puppies are raised inside our home and are raised with young children and our cat, who likes to overseer our Mum’s to ensure they are doing things right!

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Most definitely!
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.All interested applicants are sent an extensive questionaire, to help ensure us that our babies go to the very best of homes, but most importantly to give us peace of mind that they are going to families that are fully understanding in all aspects of their ongoing care.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.Our puppies go to their new homes with a very extensive care manual covering their life from birth right through to aged care, and eventually crossing the rainbow bridge. We also cover the most common breed ailments, plus the most common predators that can endanger their lives in one’s own yard.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.With no criticism nor judgement, we understand that people’s circumstances can change, and we offer to always take back any dog that we have bred and placed in any home. We are also happy to assist with breed rescue for any Saint no matter who bred it, when other breeders will not take responsibility for their own.
