Allawah Working Kelpies

Australian Kelpie Dog Breeder - Bombala, NSW

My husband and I have been breeding working Australian Kelpies for over 30 years. We run a large Merino sheep operation producing fine merino wool and first cross ewe lambs together with commercial Angus cattle. Our dogs are primarily used for sheep mustering and yard work.

My husband's father used to always buy his working dogs from the old Scoriochre Kelpie Stud in Western Victoria. So all our dogs have largely come from this bloodline with the odd import.

Our mainly Station Bred dogs and bitches have been augmented by the addition of Working Kelpie Council (WKC) bitches and dogs over the past five years. We purchased Shergool Angus 'Gus' from South Australia in 2020 and he was been joined a couple of times to our Station Bred bitch 'Bessie' producing lovely puppies and good working dogs.

Then in 2022 I was gifted a beautiful female Kelpie 'Washpool Rachael' who hadn't done a lot of farm work but had such a lovely nature and very obedient. We joined her to Gus in January 2023 and she produced four healthy puppies, with two blue (fawn/tan) and two black/tan puppies. The blue gene probably coming from Rachael as she is from the old and renowned Washpool Stud in SA. Of these four puppies two remained on our farm and were both very quick learners and easy to train. With over 5000 sheep to muster they became very important to our farming operation.

Fast forward to 2025. The boy black/tan pup we kept Allawah Aussie Ozzie was joined to our red/tan station bred bitch 'Lassie' and they produced seven healthy puppies; two blue and five black/tan. Our son has kept a black/tan bitch and we have kept a black/tan boy. We have already sold two puppies and are now looking for homes/farms for the remaining three. All displaying great working potential.
