Saluki, Azawakh Dog Breeder - Stanthorpe, QLD

Ulmarra salukis started in Ireland in 2003 with the Australian import Multi Ch Padtheway Notorious (imp Aus), with the first litter being bred in 2006. Over the next few years, Ulmarra Salukis were successful in the show ring in Ireland, Bermuda, UK, and on the continent. In 2017 I returned to Australia and now have ULMARAH Salukis based in Stanthorpe Qld.
There was a successful dual sired frozen semen litter born late November 2020. No further litters are planned for the foreseeable future.

My dogs have always lived with families and enjoy being shown, lure coursing, and lying on the sofa.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
Primary issues for salukis are heart issues and my bitch will be tested about 1 month prior to mating.
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
In Ireland my son was great with this, bringing friends around. Back here I have grandchildren who will help but additionally I walk my dogs into Stanthorpe town and to markets to ensure socialisation.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
Puppies are vet checked prior to leaving. I think desexing is up to the owners and would advise to wait till the pups are at least 12 months old. I usually question purchasers over the phone and get them to visit at least once prior to purchase.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
I ask for referees and also if they have a pet i ask for vets number and ring the vet. I also ring referees to check on how they look after animals.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
Yes, I am still in contact with owners from my first litter in 2006 and of course the later owners.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
This has happened twice to me and both dogs are in new fantastic homes
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
No
I believe that dogs qld offer an introductory insurance for new owners.
