Welsh Corgi -Cardigan, Pembroke Available Now, NSW

I bred my first litter of Pembroke corgis in 1972. Our pups have always been raised in our home with 24 hour care. We are expecting litters to be born shortly and have one tricolour boy available, enquiries are always welcome.

Our family picnic days have been fun and allowed people to meet our dogs and pups. Our next picnic day will be in early December in the Blue Mountains.

We have been testing our corgis for problems associated with hips, elbows, eyes and hearts since 2003 and are confident of being able to offer pups with very low risk of these disorders. Our entire breeding program is clear of SCID, EIC, and vWD. Vaccination, worming, microchipping and six weeks free pet insurance is standard.

Since 2010 my friends and I have been very successful showing dogs owned and/or bred by Nireno at major international competitions. Our genetics are consistently competitive against the very best in the world, including at Crufts this year.

Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
We have been health testing our dogs for decades, attempting to reduce the risk of diseases which affect their health. Our main focus at the moment is on DNA testing for degenerative myelopathy (DM) and vom Willibrand's disease. In recent years DNA testing has allowed us to breed dogs that cannot develop these conditions. We have been testing our corgis for problems associated with hips, elbows, eyes and hearts for many years and are confident of being able to offer pups with very low risk of these disorders. Unfortunately it isn't possible to DNA test for these problems as they are multi-factoral but we will replace at no cost any pup that develops a problem with hips, elbows, eyes or heart as a result of our breeding program.
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
We expose our puppies to a multitude of different environments and people. Our puppies are raised in our home, have access to our other dogs and our farm animals.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
Our pups are only available as pets, not for show or breeding unless the buyer has significant prior experience of breeding and is prepared to enter into a long term mentoring arrangement with us.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
We require people to provide information on their history of dog ownership, reasons for considering a pembroke corgi and make a commitment to keep in touch with us to provide updates on their dog's development.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
We are always available to answer any enquiries that buyers may have about the health, care and training of their dogs. People are encouraged to email, message or telephone us if there is any reason for concern.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
This happens very rarely but we are always ready to help people find good new homes for their dogs when and if their life circumstances change and they are unable to keep their pets.
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
