Arajoel is one of the longest established Border Collie breeders, specialising in breeding Border Collies with good temperaments and coats of many colours, since 1967. Border Collies can be lifetime companions, family pets, working dogs, and show quality dogs due to their agility and obedience.
Breeder Questionnaire
Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?

I DNA test my breeding stock, some of them live with friends as I do not like to have to many at home with me as I can not give them the individual love and care they need, so they own the dog but it is registered in my name and we share after expenses and I chose the sire and take full responsibility for the litter. they are whelped at their own home and I take over the litter at around 5 weeks and then observe I m/c them and get them vet checked and vaccinated before, they go to new homes. Now after 55 years of breeding border collies i only breed a few litters a year. I also did pet rescue for many years, and was local ranger in our town of Hay for 24 years, Dogs are my life
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
puppies are handled by myself and visitors , I have no kids here my grandkids live too far away but sometime other children come to play, with joint litters there are children, who handle the puppies
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
I ask people to fill in a questionnaire of around 30 questions. I will check out all the details, and they are asked to sign the form as it becomes a legal contract.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
I ask them to fill in a form of about 30 questions on where pup will sleep how much would pup be left at home alone, do they have any other pets do they have good fencing will they train puppy and be included in the family activities give them a list of food that they have been given, and to keep contact once in a while
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
I tell them if they have any issues please contact me. I want what is best for the puppy/dog and for the owners
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Yes
I am looking into this now, though it is up to each owner if they wish to continue with any health insurance for their dog
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Yes
I always tell them this I put it in writing for them, I have also been the Dog ranger in our town and still do some dog rescue and rehoming. It is very important if someone's circumstances change and they are unable to care or keep the dog they must contact me as i will take the dog back and make absolutely sure it goes to a compatible home as i have done many pet rescues of all breeds over the years especially when i was local ranger
